Somebody loaded about 40 all at once after a re-install and this happened, and the solution was to uninstall one by one until it was fixed.

The Search function relies on an internal filter to find words; file types that don't have a defined filter won't be searched. I have searched many forums and have tried the fixes such as registry keys; running (regsvr32 C:\WINDOWS\srchasst\srchui.dll); running sfc /scannow; kellys-korner help pages; etc.. Click on the Change preferences link, then on the With Indexing Service link. It is so well-used that workers now spend 28% of business hours reading and writing emails.
